Beat the Heat Here at Rookwood
If summer so far is any indication of how the rest of the 2022 season will go, it’s safe to say that we are all in for a hot one here in Cincinnati. While we midwesterners appreciate the bright sunshine that comes with the summer months after cold and gray winters, we all cling to the comfort of air conditioning come July. Luckily, you can have the best of both worlds right here at Rookwood Commons and Pavilion. When you visit our open-air shopping center, you can take in (just enough) summer sun between browsings.
Summer deals will be heating up at all of your favorite retailers. While you’re here, cool down with a frozen treat at Yagoot. Froyo may be a yummy treat any time of the year, but we really can’t go without it in July.
Yagoot is known for their “Original Yagoot Cup,” which is a perfect portion of creamy froyo topped with your toppings of choice. From fresh fruits to crunchy candies, this is the epitome of a build-your-own experience. You can’t go wrong with their classic original-flavored froyo, but we can’t wait to try specialty flavors like Key Lime Pie and Pistachio this month.
Busy bopping between summer activities? Snag a “Whirled Famous Smoothie” before jumping back on the highway. This smoothie skips the ice and is instead made with only fresh ingredients. This makes the creamiest, most flavorful treat that you can enjoy on the go. On a health kick? Try “The Immunity Blend Smoothie,” which has a deliciously tasting, deceivingly healthy blend of frozen yogurt, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries and immunity boost powder.
We love how Yagoot gives us the indulgent experience of ice cream without the guilt. But froyo isn’t the only way to keep your cool this summer while still prioritizing health. If your regular outdoor fitness regimen has become unbearable in the daytime sun, now is the perfect time to try a new method at one of our center’s fitness studios. Move your workout indoors at CycleBar and Club Pilates.
Cincinnati runners love transitioning to indoor cycling classes in the summer. (Yes, even those who haven’t ridden a bike since childhood.) And, right now they’re offering your first ride free! We recommend starting with CycleBar’s Classic or Connect classes. The most competitively minded will love the Performance class while the busiest will appreciate the 30-minute Xpress classes.
Even if cardio isn’t your focus, you can still feel the heat (comfortably in the AC, of course) at another Rookwood fitness studio: Club Pilates. Club Pilates delivers low-impact, incredibly effective workouts in their 50+ classes they offer every week. The Club Pilates workout follows the classic Joseph Pilates method, and takes it up a notch in a variety of classes. You’ll use the Reformer, the mat, props, ballet barre, TRX straps and more.
Even if you’ve never done Pilates before, we promise Club Pilates will make you feel amazing. They offer a complimentary introductory class to every new member. You typically won’t find this at other studios. But we are glad they offer it! Without this foundational training, we would have been so lost on the complicated-looking equipment.
As you browse around your favorite Rookwood shops, stop in for a refreshing sip at one of our restaurants. Of course, Rookwood Commons and Pavilion isn’t the only place to enjoy summer fun in the Tri-State. We Cincinnatians are lucky to have plenty of things to do in the summer months. Some of our favorite things to do this season in the Greater Cincinnati area include:
- Kayaking on the Little Miami River.
- Swimming at a public pool like Ziegler Pool in OTR.
- Splashing around at a kid-friendly splash pad like Latonia Water Park in Covington.
- Berry picking at local farms like Blooms & Berries Farm Market.
- Taking in rooftop views with a beverage (or two) at rooftop bars like City View Tavern in Mt. Adams.
